5 Easy Time Management Tips

Let’s face it. We have just 24 hours in a day and you cannot stretch it, no matter how desperately you crave for more time. What you could however do is create more time for the things you want to do by following these simple tips:

Prioritize your activities

If you love procrastinating or starting something but never finding the time to finish, then here’s what you need to do most – Prioritize! Make a list of all that you have to do today. Five minutes of thinking is all it takes. Either make a mental note or quickly jot down the to-do’s in writing. The latter is a better option, any day. You could do this soon after you wake up while you’re sipping coffee. If you’re mornings are always too hectic or if you’re not a morning person, then make this your last activity before you hit the bed the previous night

Get rid of activities that waste time

Checking your email 5 minutes, couching in front of your television sets or chatting away to glory with friends can be fun but unarguably huge time wasters. If you could devote even half this time playing with your children or spending quality time with them, you will feel so much more gratified and happier.

Make a conscious effort every single day to set aside some time for your children exclusively. Simultaneously work on your to-do list by cutting down on these timewasters. You will find yourself striking things of your ever-long to-do lists as you find yourself being able to manage them all perfectly well.

Learn to say ‘no’

You don’t have to be “super woman”. Like everyone else, you too have just 24 hours in a day. Don’t torture yourself to please everyone that comes your way. You do have your own goals, right? When are you ever going to make time for them?

Spend time with people whom you love and care for, those who have nurtured you, take a walk through the woods, go swimming, read a book, and listen to some good music. You need to make time for constructive leisure activities. People will demand all your time. Learn to prioritize and say no, when you have to.

Ask for help

Help is always at hand, you just need to take a good look around. You don’t have to do everything yourself. It is okay to outsource a couple of activities that take a lot of your time, like mowing your lawn or running a taxi service for your kids! Start a carpool instead!

Renew your energy

Now it seems impossible to make time for anything more. But you have no choice but to set a little time aside to renew your energy. Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths and dwell in the month. Enroll yourself in yoga classes. You will find yourself spinning around with energy and peace. Else, just meditate for at least 10 minutes a day. It will do you a world of good.

The key lies in make your priority list everyday and constantly reminding yourself of it, so that you wont let yourself fall into the lazy mode or drift away from what you should ideally be doing. Pamper yourself off and on. Indulge in feel good activities but do not forget your priorities!
